Our Kukicha Twig Tea is of a green tea quality and largely composed from organic cultivation by leaf stalks, the so-called “Kuki”, which are obtained during the production of Sencha or Bancha. It is, therefore, nearly free of caffeine, but rich in trace elements. Toasted Kukicha is a particular green tea specialty with a strong, sweetish taste. Despite it’s characteristic appearance, its taste is discreet and thus makes it an enjoyable experience. It is suitable both during the day and in the evening.

- Notes of wood and toasted nuts; while not sweet in the beginning, it yields a nice caramel finish, evocative of molasses and burnt marshmallows.

Massive umami, due to the roasting, but not woody as the appearance might suggest. The aroma out of the bag is outstanding, just a great sip. This might just be better than Hojicha but that’s a difficult call but that’s how good this is. Next to no caffeine too, which is great for nighttime. This is up there with just about any Rooibos and I love that tea. Next to no vegetal notes, so if you don’t care for the grassiness, especially that of the SenKukicha, I’d recommend this, especially if you like Rooibos.
