The city of Bao Loc is located in the Lam Dong province in the highlands of Southern Vietnam. In it’s surroundings, excellent green Oolong varieties are produced using ancient Taiwanese methods.
- Southern Vietnam
- A mild smooth floral taste, a strong sweet flowery aroma, and a pleasant lasting aftertaste of vanilla.
One of my favorites, this reminds me of the Taiwanese-style Ti Kuan Yin that I first fell in love with in Vancouver. I orefer to brew it strong (~6g per 16 fluid oz) and steep it long (8-10 min), ehich gives a honey-colored first brew. I like a bit of astringency, but this doesn’t have any of the harsh bitterness that a gunpowder green develops after a long steep.
The second and third steeps make for a nice afternoon / evening drink, when i want something hot to sip on with little caffeine. I steep these long, 10-20 min.
