Teas Good for Winter

“A cup of tea warms the soul like a good friend.”

That’s just one of the many quotes that sums up the relationship that people have with their tea. Whether you’re feeling sick, lonely or a bit sad, tea has a way of warming the soul and balancing the yin and the yang.

Drinking tea on a cold day forces you to slow down. It’s hot – for one – but if you want to get the full benefits of tea, you need to take the time to breathe in the aromas and taste the various hints of fruit, nuts and berries.

Practicing relaxation techniques while drinking your tea (i.e., deep breathing, meditating, mindfulness), allows you to get even more benefits from the mind-body connection that tea drinking promotes.

If you’re looking to get more into tea drinking this winter season, we have five great teas that will warm your soul. Get them at Tin Roof Teas, where all of our loose leaf teas are organic and absolutely delicious!

  1. Longevity

Longevity is a black tea that has high antioxidant properties. It’s perfect for those crazy, hectic days when you feel that you can’t find a single moment! The tea contains strawberry pieces, goji berries, blueberry pieces and acai. It’s sweet, tangy and packed with flavor.

  1. Strawberry Vanilla

Strawberry Vanilla is from our green tea collection, and it’s a wonderful pick for those who love fruity teas with subtle hints of sweetness. Probably one of our favorite things about this tea is that it brings us back to our childhoods. Creamy vanilla and strawberry pieces add flavor to this tea, which has a low caffeine content.

  1. White Chai

White Chai is one of our favorites for the winter season. It’s light, which is perfect if you don’t care for the heavier tastes of black teas, but it still has a way of combining smooth and spicy notes. Lemon and vanilla are the two strongest notes that come through, and they are balanced by the spicy hints of cardamom, cloves and star anise.

  1. Bossa Nova

Bossa Nova is an oolong tea that combines sweet hazelnut and vanilla. It’s exceptionally smooth and perfect for warming the soul because of its roasted notes and scrumptious flavors. It also has a medium caffeine content, so it will give you a nice afternoon pickup.

  1. Oak City Chai

Oak City Chai is a black tea, and our first in-house full leaf chai blend. This particular blend has a bit more cardamom compared to others in order to achieve a sweet and spicy combination. It’s finished off with notes of ginger and cinnamon, as well as chili pepper and pepper. If you enjoy tea with a bit of heat, this one’s for you!
